John Wilson, Advisor to Commissioner Art Rosenfeld at the California Energy Commission, USA
John is an Advisor to Commissioner Art Rosenfeld at the California Energy Commission (www.energy.ca.gov), where he has worked since 1977. The Commission is California’s long range planning agency, and is responsible for demand forecasting, supply assessments, efficiency standards, public interest R&D, power plant licensing, and contingency planning. Most recently, Mr. Wilson’s activities have emphasized on developing new appliance efficiency standards, oversight of the Commission’s $80 million per year Public Interest Energy Research program (www.energy.ca.gov/pier), and developing long-term scenarios for California’s energy system. Outside the Commission, he is a member of the Board of the New Buildings Institute (www.newbuildings.org ), and he is on the steering committees for the Building Codes Assistance Project (www.bcap-energy.org ), and the Appliance Standards Awareness Project (www.standardsasap.org). John has B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics from the University of California (Berkeley and Davis).
