Mr. Patrick Newell if co-founder of the Tokyo International School. One of their missions is to develop the school of the XXI century. In his presentation gives a very realistic view of the actual situation of Japanese education. For that, he makes a small observation of how education has been in Japan since the Second World War. Explain how is the Japanese society, their nature. They feel a natural disaster as an opportunity. A society in constant change.Students are becoming more creative. Japan's potential is certainly enormous and the kind of education that must be recived is focused on new generations. For Mr. Patrick these new generations must open their minds, because Japan is a country that exports many goods.
One proposal is to educate children, connecting with their 5 senses. Using digital tools, digital portfolios… Finally Mr. Newell referred back to Japanese society, commenting that they are not individual people, they are collective, and for that they must to develop collective intelligence in education.
