Thomas Bumol, Vice President of the Biotechnology Discovery Research component at Lilly Research Laboratories, offers a conference on the role of innovation in the biotechnology sector. This sector suffers a reengineering process with innovation as key factor.
Innovation is leading a revolution in the way treatments are developed, changing them into integral treatments, which treat the disease from all its aspects. The treatments are becoming in more specifics, focus and effective.
Also, this revolution is turning to Lilly in a Biopharmaceutical company.
Thomas F. Bumol, Ph.D., is currently the Vice President of the Biotechnology Discovery Research component at Lilly Research Laboratories, Indianapolis, Indiana and the President/Site Head of Lilly’s Biotechnology Center of San Diego. Since February of 2004, Dr. Bumol’s responsibilities also include Applied Molecular Evolution, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company based in San Diego, California. This overall component in Indianapolis and San Diego has responsibilities for bioproduct discovery research in platforms of peptides, protein engineering and monoclonal antibodies in collaboration with the company's four focused therapeutic areas in autoimmunity, cancer, neurosciences and endocrinology. He is also the chairperson of the company’s Bioproduct Strategy Group and a member of a governance group looking at discovery phase project/program portfolios, and the company’s Portfolio Management Committee.
