Vaclav Smil, distinguido profesor de la Universidad de Manitoba, Cánada, ofrece una visión general situación energética actual. Comienza explicando el crecimiento exponencial del consumo energético, centrándose en el caso de España, y en el consumo desequilibrado de las diferentes áreas económicas mundiales. Continúa describiendo la distribución de las reservas energéticas mundiales y el uso y desarrollo de las energías alternativas. En sus conclusiones apela a la concienciación global para conseguir la eficiencia energética.

Vaclav Smil estudió un programa interdisciplinar en la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales de la Universidad Carolimun en Praga y en la Universidad Estatal de Pennsylvania. Actualmente, es un distinguido profesor en la Facultad de Medio Ambiente de la Universidad de Manitoba (Cánada). Ha publicado más de 25 libros (sin contar las traducciones en Japonés, Chino, Coreano, Italiano, Español, Holandés y Noruego) y más de 300 artículos en 80 revistas sobre energía, medio ambiente, estudios asiáticos y ciencias generales (desde American Scientist a World Development y Bulletin of Atomic Scientists o Scientific American), y en más de 30 volúmenes editados. Su investigación multidisciplinar abarca temas tan diversos como energía, medio ambiente, alimentación, población, ciencias económicas y política pública.

For 2 years now I have been campaigning to get lesiilatgon introduced concerning energy savings in the home without I have to admit much success although I have had some interest from DEFRA and newspapers.The point I am making here is this we are all aware that we need to make savings in the home for starters it confuses me then somewhat, that when I approach government departments with my energy saving idea which if implemented will reduce energy consumption quite considerably during cold weather months not just in one home but millions year in year out it is either ignored or pushed to another department.This proposal if implemented would save more energy in the home than all other home energy savings put together.Why is this proposal not acted on or at least put up for serious government consideration?(Please see my 360 for link)Add: = ^_^ = You miss the point entirely(Intentionally?)
