Regarding Ramon´s expertise, his PhD thesis was the first work that developed a computational approach to the problem of learning to discriminate between solid objects by means of tactile recognition using an anthropomorphic artificial hand. In 1979-1980, while working for IKERLAN, he developed the first expert system (for designing electrical power transformers) in Spain and one of the earliest expert systems in Europe.
