Lucio Milanese

Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Munich-based Proxima Fusion, Lucio Milanese steers fundraising, partnerships and the simulation-driven engineering of quasi-isodynamic stellarators. In January 2025 he became the first European board member of the Fusion Industry Association, amplifying the continent’s private-fusion voice. A plasma physicist trained at École Polytechnique and EPFL, Milanese previously worked on Wendelstein 7-X optimisation. He advocates public-private collaboration and open-source software to accelerate stellarator commercialisation.
