By 2025, the volume of data in the world will be 175 times more than in 2011

The volume of information grows exponentially day by day and so do the forecasts for that growth.

The volume of data will reach 175 zettabytes by 2025, according to a report by the consulting firm IDC, which is equivalent to 175 times the information generated in 2011.

These figures demonstrate and confirm a reality that is evident every day, and that is that the volume of information grows exponentially day by day and so do the forecasts for that growth. Thus, in a previous report published by the same consultancy, the forecast for 2020 was 44 zettabytes.

However, what is most surprising is not the volume of information. What you really have to take into account is that more than half of the data will remain stored in the cloud. In addition, there is another conclusion in this study that should not be overlooked, and that is that the greatest increase in “data” will be a consequence of the more than 150,000 million devices that will be connected to the Internet through what we call IOT or Internet of Things . This last figure is an example of the direct relationship between big data and IOT. Theinformation generated by the different devices in our daily lives that are connected to the Internet will increase enormously in the coming years. Some interesting data that highlights this growth is that by 2025, each person anywhere in the world will interact with connected devices about 4,800 times per day, which basically means one interaction every 18 seconds.

Another numerical evidence of this reality is: if there are now more than 5,000 million consumers who interact with data, in seven years that number will be 6,000 million, which represents 75 percent of the world’s population.
