Barbara Gerratana

Barbara is a Programme Coordination Manager at EISMEA, overseeing EIC Pathfinder projects in synthetic biology, engineered living materials, and regenerative medicine. Previously, she held senior roles at the National Institutes of Health, shaping funding programs and contributing to national synthetic biology policy, including work with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. With a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a distinguished academic career as a tenured professor at the University of Maryland, she brings scientific depth to policy design fostering responsible innovation and translating cutting edge research into societal impact.
