Enrique Calleja Pardo
Enrique Calleja Pardo
Professor at the E.T.S.I. Telecomunicación (U.P.M.)
The work of this researcher revolves around the area of semiconductor materials (Group III nitrides), their growth, characterization and application to various devices, both electronic and optoelectronic.
In his field of work, the physical principles that govern the properties of materials are established and demonstrator devices are manufactured with very diverse applications, such as detectors in the ultraviolet and infrared range for the environment (pollutants), LED and laser emitters for optical storage of information (DVD’s), efficient generation of white light with LEDs (replacement of fluorescent tubes), next-generation transistors for mobile phones, chemical detectors and biological markers, and quantum information and coding (interference immunity and espionage).
Enrique Calleja is the principal investigator of several publicly funded projects related to Quantum Information. One of the projects in which the professor is involved is known as “‘Information Technologies Based on Quantum Optics”. This work is dedicated to the development of methods and devices for future information technology based on quantum optics systems.
Professor Calleja is immersed in three other projects related to nanotechnology. The first two are called “Semiconductor Nanostructures as Components for Quantum Information (NANOCOMIC)” and “Semiconductor Nanostructures as Components for Quantum Information (NANIC)”.
