Enrique Castellón
Secretary of State of the Spanish Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs (1996-2000). Among its responsibilities is the Carlos III Health Institute, headquarters of the Social Security Health Research Fund (FISS). From this position he promoted the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) and the National Centre for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC).
In 1998 the Spanish Medicines Agency was created, of which he was its Executive President until 2000. He has also been Executive President of the National Institute of Consumer Affairs.
Director General of the Galician Health Service (1991-1995) and the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services of the Community of Madrid (1995-1996).
He has previously worked as an assistant physician in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Hospital Clínico de San Carlos in Madrid. In 1986 he joined the Medical Inspectors of the Social Security Authority, assuming responsibility for the Health Planning of the National Institute of Health (INSALUD of La Coruña).
