Eugene Kandel

CEO at Start-Up Nation Central

Eugene Kandel is an Israeli economist, CEO of the Start-Up Nation Central, and Emil Spyer Professor of Economics and Finance at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

From 2009 to 2015, he was Chairman of the Israel National Economic Council (appointed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) in the Office of the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisor, where he played a central role in all major economic policy decisions.

Previously, he advised governments, corporations, financial institutions and NGOs, served on the Israeli Antitrust Court and chaired pension and provident fund investment committees in Israel. He is a member of the Hebrew University Center for the Study of Rationality, a member of the London Center for Economic Policy and Research, and a member of the European Institute of Corporate Governance. He is the founder of the Center for Financial Markets and Institutions and the Master in Finance and Financial Economics, both from the Hebrew University.
