Artur Ekert

In his academic life he is a cryptophysicist, that is, a cryptologist and physicist. I am a co-inventor of quantum cryptography. My main research interest is the treatment of information in quantum mechanical systems. It is an interdisciplinary field in which theoretical and experimental quantum physics, mathematics, logic, computer science and information theory converge, co-inventor of quantum cryptography. His work is mainly theoretical, but his results have a direct impact on questions of experimental application. Outside the academic world he is addicted to all kinds of water sports and general aviation.
