Carlos Alejandre

Carlos Alejaldre, former Director-General of CIEMAT, was elected Chair of the F4E Governing Board in 2022, overseeing Europe’s contribution to ITER. A plasma physicist educated at New York University, he previously served as ITER Deputy Director-General and led Spain’s ITER Office. Alejaldre has sat on numerous IAEA and ESFRI advisory bodies and published influential papers on magnetically confined plasmas. He also promotes Spanish industry’s participation in large-scale scientific infrastructures.
