Eduardo Porter
Eduardo Porter writes the Economic Scene column for The New York Times. He previously served on the editorial board of The Times, where he wrote about business, economics, and a mix of other issues.
Mr. Porter began his career in journalism more than two decades ago as a financial journalist for Notimex, a Mexican news agency, in Mexico City. He was sent as a correspondent to Tokyo and London, and in 1996 moved to São Paulo, Brazil, as editor of América Economía, a business magazine.
In 2000, Mr. Porter went to work at The Wall Street Journal in Los Angeles to cover the growing Hispanic population. He joined The New York Times in 2004 to cover the economy.
Mr. Porter was born in Phoenix and raised in the United States, Mexico, and Belgium.
He graduated in physics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and holds a master’s degree in quantum fields and fundamental forces from the Imperial College of Science and Technology in London.
