J.C. Herz

JC Herz is the chief operating officer of Ion Channel and has been a member of federal investigative and advisory boards for more than a decade. She is co-chair of the NTIA (Department of Commerce) Software Transparency Formats and Standards Working Group.

She has served as a special White House consultant for the Office of the Secretary of Defense and as an advisor to DARPA’s Office of Defense Science. JC co-authored the Pentagon’s Open Technology Development roadmap spearheaded by Sue Payton, then the Air Force’s chief of procurement. JC participated in the National Academy of Sciences’ (NAS) Standing Committee on Technology Knowledge (TIGER), a future trends council for the intelligence community, the National Science Foundation’s Federal Education and Human Resources Advisory Committee, and the IT and Creative Practice committee.
