Katrin Puetz
Katrin’s goal with (B)energy is to make biogas in the global South independent of development aid. This was made possible with the biogas backpack he developed at the University of Hohenheim (Germany) in 2010 for this purpose: to make biogas profitable. After 3 years of research and pilot testing in collaboration with Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, a complete set of mobile biogas in combination with a business concept was ready for implementation. Katrin founded (B)energy in 2014 to make the results available to the market. Today, (B)energy is a social enterprise that does more than just biogas technology. They are a growing network of international partners, working on the creation of the biogas market as a business, trying to change mindsets around aid dependency and the new economy, and champions of the “economy for the common good” movement.
