Mai Santamaria leads the Financial Advisory team in the Irish Department of Finance. He is responsible for research in the Financial Services sector. He leads the Irish delegation on the proposals for Crypto-Asset Market Regulations with the EU Commission.Mai is a member of the Bureau of the OECD Financial Markets Committee and a member of its Ad-Hoc Expert Group on Digital Finance. In 2018, she co-authored the Department’s Virtual Currencies and Blockchain discussion paper.
This year, she co-authored one of the World Economic Forum’s Digital Currency Governance consortium’s whitepapers on CBDCs and stablecoins. He was a member of the advisory board of BlockchainIreland for 2 years (2018-2020). She organized the first government-wide utility blockchain hackathon in 2019 and co-founded BlockW.Mai has over 20 years’ experience in the private financial sector, having worked with Barclays, Zurich, Rothchild, GE and PwC. Mai is a Fellow Chartered Accountant in Ireland.
