As an educator for the past eighteen years, Patrick has navigated change and improved learning environments in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Russia, and North America. He focuses on the development of Technology models, Board Governance, Accreditation and Learning. Patrick is screening 21:21, a documentary about changing learning in the 21st century as part of the 21st Foundation launched in 2010.

Patrick Newell is the founder of the Tokyo International School which currently serves nearly 320 students of 45 nationalities in central Tokyo. It has been a model school in many areas of education and learning.

He is also the co-founder of TEDxTokyo, an organization that focuses on Japanese thought leaders and Foreign Affairs sharing ideas. TEDxTokyo was a pilot program originated from the TED conference, which is regarded as the number one global community in the world to share ideas and change the world. Patrick was also part of the team that launched TEDxYouth Day in 60 cities around the world on November 20, 2010

Patrick is also the founder of the Life Dreams of an NPO that empowers and enriches the lives of more than 1,700 orphans from more than 33 children’s homes in Japan. Sueños Vivir supports these children through Give Now and Make It Last (Learning, Arts, Sports, and Technology).

Patrick has been a speaker and participant in more than 20 international school conferences and workshops around the world. He has also been the Chair of International School Accreditation Teams around the world for the Council of International Colleges and New England Association of Schools and Colleges and currently serves as President of the ACCJ (American Chamber of Commerce) International Education Committee.
