At the time of the Foundation’s Fusion Forward forum in June 2025, Richard Pearson was working as CTO at Kyoto Fussioneering, a leading fusion technology company based in Japan, where he helped raise over $100 million and expand the company into a multinational with 150 employees. He oversaw external relations, drove innovation strategy, and fostered global partnerships, drawing on his expertise in systems thinking, innovation theory, and fusion commercialization. Beyond his commercial role, Richard is involved in research and policy through his positions at the University of Bristol, the Journal of Fusion Energy, the UK Fusion Industry Task Force (FIT), and the IEEE Fusion Technology Committee.
