Internet of Things

Internet of Things

Our experts analyze the technology that makes it possible for any imaginable object to be connected to the Internet, become intelligent and therefore offers infinite possibilities.

What is IoT?

The Internet of Things (IoT) consists of things having an Internet connection at any time and place.

This technology brings together:
– Hardware , with sensors and devices in everyday objects,
– Connectivity, connecting objects via fixed and wireless networks
– Data, implies that any object can be a data source.

The IoT is beginning to transform the way we do business, the organization of the public sector, and the day-to-day lives of millions of people. But the Internet of Things is much more than ubiquity. To begin with, it is a way of instrumenting the planet. As everyday objects come to life thanks to sensors, the world becomes more interconnected and these objects, along with machines and people, communicate in a radically different way.

Impact of the Internet of Things

The Internet of Things is already in our lives, in this section we will explain where and how.

In our report we already commented that:

The Internet of Things is a breakthrough with a major impact on society and business. As information and people become increasingly connected, technology serves as a collaboration and decision-making tool in a world where physical and digital converge. Consumers gain in bargaining power because the data they need is just a click away, and new business models emerge that aim to maximize the possibilities of an open and modifiable system for all. The idea that the company is an organization with economic purposes is over. Motivations as diverse as the optimization of resources with a clear environmental background, the supply of individual excess capacity or the collective demand for knowledge of the origin of products have served as an innovative business concept under the umbrella of the Internet of Things.

In this section we will try to answer these questions. Where are IoT solutions being applied? What are they enabling? What impact are they having? What examples are there?

Future of IoT

The arrival of 5G, the reduction in the cost of IoT devices, and the growing offer of SaaS (Software as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) solutions may be the drivers of a massive adoption of the Internet of Things in the next 5 years, but we should not underestimate the impediments: mostly, lack of standards, cybersecurity problems (how to solve the two main causes of cyberattacks in IoT solutions: identity theft and unencrypted data) and lack of trust perceived by the citizen.
