Professor in IESE Business School
From 1970 to 1981 Professor Renart held different positions in a Spanish food company, up to the level of Divesion Manager and Member of the Board. He then joined IESE where he is full time professor in the Marketing Department. He teaches both executive and at the MBA level. From November 1994 to May 1997, he was also Executive Director of Alumni Division.
Most of his teaching and research is focused on marketing strategy, particularly on export and multinational marketing topics, with special emphasis on multinational marketing alliances. He has also done recent work on the topics of sales team management, with particul emphasis on sales team compensation and the outsourcing of sales team; and Customer relationship Management strategies. He has written or co-authored more than 40 cases and related documents. Some of them have been included in some 25 leading textbooks plubished in the United States, Spain, France, United Kingdom and Croatia. He has won five prices in the European Case Writing Competitio organised each year by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
In addition yo IESE, he has been Visiting Professor at HEC+ISA (Jouy-en-Josas, France); Nijenrode (Holland), AESE (Lisboa), IPADE and ICAMI (Mexico); INALDE (Bogota); IDE (Ecuador); School of Economics (Zagreb, Croatia); IAE (Buenos Aires); Lagos Business School (Nigeria); IEDC (Bled, Slovenia); Nile University (Cairo); HCMS (Moscow); Luanda, Angola; The University of Asia and the Pacific (Manila, The Philippines) and at the Estonian Business School (Tallinn).
He is member of the Board of Barna Consulting Group, and of other companies active in real estate (Rentauro), corporate social responsibility services (Alter Marketin), vending of consumer products (GrupArpa), and the health products industry (Smith + Nephew-Spain). He has had teaching or consulting engagements whit varioys companies and organisations such as Nestlé, MAersk España, ICEX, Patronat Català pro Europa, and many others.
In September 2009 he has been appointed head of the IESE Africa Initiative, with the aim of coordinating and stimulating further institutional involment of the IESE Business School in Africa.
