Poyni Bhatt is currently the Chief Administrative Officer, Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay, Mumbai, India. She has held this position since January 2004. SINE is a Technology Business Incubator which operates within the Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay (IIT Bombay) in Mumbai, India. IIT Bombay is one of seven premier higher technical education and research institutes operated by the Indian government.
Poyni Bhatt has been associated closely with SINE from its conceptualisation to its formation, and is now involved in its management. She worked on the formation of SINE as a legal entity by addressing issues related to its constitution, its incubation model, and its policies and procedures. She has been active in building a network of stakeholders for SINE, especially from within government bodies, industry experts, and investors.
As Chief Administrator Officer she is responsible for implementing the SINE incubation program and policies, assessing business plans and evaluating the progress of companies started within SINE. She is closely involved in the mentoring process of startups in SINE. She is further responsible for the legal and financial activities of the Society. She has also been involved actively in raising funds for the Society.

It has handled transactions in domestic and international capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, private equity syndication, restructuring and infrastructure. It is also a leading player in the fixed income market in India and has made pioneering contributions to debt market development in the country.
At ICICI Securities, Poyni Bhatt was responsible for compliance and legal affairs. She devised and implemented policies for regulatory compliance, and was involved in the structuring of several business deals and transactions. She worked on the compliance processes for the company’s U.S. subsidiary, and also represented the company’s matters before various Indian regulatory authorities.

Ashima Group is a large textile conglomerate based in Ahmedabad, and is one of India’s leading cotton fabric manufacturers. It is a vertically integrated group with a comprehensive range of cotton textile products. Poyni Bhatt had responsibilities involving corporate law, and handled public offerings and fund raising from private placements, banks and foreign investors. She was also responsible for interacting with several regulatory and government agencies.
