Disruptive cities
Our focus for this trends will be the evolution of cities in the next decade. Cities sit at the crossroads of several powerful disruptive trends. Exciting technologies like autonomous vehicles and “smart” infrastructure promise to make life easier and more efficient, but could substantially alter land use and eliminate jobs; people and businesses continue to migrate to cities, but lead to both renewal and gentrification; open data involves citizens and others in collaboration to improve urban life, but presents new security challenges; and an alarming proportion of urban land is at risk from climate change in the long run. Our experts analyse these challenges and propose the best ways to transform our cities into disruptive cities.
