{"id":14330,"date":"2019-09-02T15:37:00","date_gmt":"2019-09-02T13:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fundacionbankinter.org\/noticias\/redefiniendo-la-movilidad\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T23:37:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T22:37:13","slug":"redefining-mobility","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/www.fundacionbankinter.org\/en\/news\/redefining-mobility\/","title":{"rendered":"Redefining mobility"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the facets of urban life in which the depth of the technological changes of recent years is most noticeable is, without a doubt, that of&nbsp;<strong>mobility<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>carsharing<\/em><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>, scooters, motorcycles and electric cars that are hired by the&nbsp;minute, are already common in many cities around the world.<\/li><li>Although still at a very early stage,&nbsp;<strong>private and shared autonomous vehicles<\/strong> will change our way of life.<\/li><li>The concept of<strong>&nbsp;mobility as a service<\/strong> emerges with a lot:&nbsp;<a href=\"file:\/\/datos02\/FundacionInnovacion\/2.-%20FUNDACION\/04.%20FTF\/FTF%20Refresh\/4.%20Ciudades%20Disruptivas\/Para%20Web\/Contenido%20Ciudades%20Disruptivas.docx#_Tecnolog%C3%ADas_(puntos_3.1\"><strong>MaaS<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;(&#8220;<em>Mobility as a Service<\/em>&#8220;).<\/li><li>When we apply new technologies to mobility, we talk about &#8220;<strong>Smart Mobility<\/strong>&#8220;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<strong><em>Transport has always been the engine of economic and social change<\/em><\/strong><em>. The appearance of cities will change hand in hand with the combination of information and transport technologies<\/em>,&#8221; says&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionbankinter.org\/en\/experts\/marco-pedrazzo\/\"><strong><em>Marco Pedrazzo<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, head of business development at the architecture&nbsp;firm <a href=\"https:\/\/carloratti.com\/\"><strong>Carlo Ratti Associati<\/strong><\/a>. &#8220;<strong><em>The time spent commuting to the office will become work or leisure time; the space for car parks will be free for other uses<\/em><\/strong>,&#8221; he adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<em>We have built our cities around cars, but the way we relate to them is changing dramatically<\/em>,&#8221; says&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionbankinter.org\/en\/experts\/jaime-rodriguez-de-santiago-concha\/\"><strong><em>Jaime Rodr\u00edguez<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, former CEO of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.blablacar.es\/about-us\"><strong>Blablacar<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;for Spain, Portugal and Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<em>The new forms of shared mobility allow us to configure a completely different space<\/em>,&#8221; he proposes. &#8220;<em>This revolution will affect everything from the real estate sector to the electrification of cities or even how cities smell, feel or sound<\/em>,&#8221; adds Rodr\u00edguez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>One of the facilitators of the great transformation<\/strong>&nbsp;to which Jaime&nbsp;alludes <strong>has been the fact that almost all citizens have a smartphone<\/strong>&nbsp;(96% of Spaniards, according to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ditrendia.es\/informe-mobile-espana-mundo-2019\/\">Mobile Report in Spain and in World 2019 of Ditrendia<\/a>), a device used mostly to contract shared mobility options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cities still have a big problem to solve in this area: the streamlining of intercity connections<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the following video, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionbankinter.org\/en\/experts\/natalia-de-estevan-ubeda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Natalia de Esteva-\u00dabeda<\/a> offers her vision of the challenges that cities must face in terms of mobility:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Los retos del transporte en las ciudades | Natalia de Estevan-Ubeda\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/71LsUn2hiKY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La movilidad es uno de los aspectos de la vida urbana que m\u00e1s prospecci\u00f3n del futuro. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":14328,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_oaas_summary":"Recent technological advancements have significantly transformed urban mobility, introducing services like carsharing, scooter rentals, and electric vehicles hired by the minute, which are now common in many cities worldwide.
