{"id":14675,"date":"2020-03-10T08:20:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-10T07:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fundacionbankinter.org\/noticias\/innovacion-cloud-computing\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T23:34:52","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T22:34:52","slug":"innovation-cloud-computing","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/www.fundacionbankinter.org\/en\/news\/innovation-cloud-computing\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovation &#038; Cloud Computing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To get an idea of the health of&nbsp;<em>Cloud Computing<\/em>, we just have to check the valuations of&nbsp;the main <em>Cloud Computing<\/em>&nbsp;companies and the most significant movements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A decade ago, there was no private cloud company valued at a billion dollars. Today, there are 55&nbsp;<em>unicorns<\/em>&nbsp;(<strong><em>Tech<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;Unicorn refers to tech companies that reach a billion dollars worth at some stage of their capital raising process) in the private cloud. If we include the additional 44 public cloud companies, there are 99 cloud players valued at over a billion. What is really remarkable about the cloud ecosystem is not only the size of the market, but also its interdependence: in the last year more than 90 billion euros have been spent on large mergers and acquisitions (the most notorious, the purchase of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.redhat.com\/en\"><strong>Red Hat<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/us-en\/?lnk=fcc\"><strong>IBM<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;(30 billion euros),  the acquisition of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/\"><strong>GitHub<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>Microsoft<\/strong>&nbsp;(almost 7 billion euros) and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sendgrid.com\/\"><strong>SendGrid<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;joining&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.twilio.com\/\"><strong>Twilio<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;(2.6 billion euros).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of the great innovations in business models and new services would not have been possible without&nbsp;<em>Cloud Computing<\/em>. The most important thing is not the saving of investments, which also, but:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>access to the&nbsp;<strong>latest technology immediately<\/strong>,<\/li><li>the ease of tackling <strong>open<\/strong>&nbsp;innovation projects&nbsp;with collaborations often in <strong>co-request<\/strong> mode&nbsp;.<\/li><li>and the ease of pivoting solutions based on demand, almost in real time.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The so-called &#8220;<strong>Digital Transformation<\/strong>&#8220;, or also &#8220;<strong>Fourth Industrial Revolution<\/strong>&#8221; would not be possible without a model such as&nbsp;<em>Cloud Computing<\/em>. In fact, several studies and surveys highlight that the Digital Transformation faced by companies and institutions is the main growth&nbsp;factor of <em>Cloud Computing<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forrester.com\/report\/Public+Cloud+Evolution+2018\/-\/E-RES144818\">Forrester<\/a>,&nbsp;<em>Cloud Computing<\/em>&nbsp;is one of the most disruptive trends of the last 15 years in the technology market. Cloud initiatives are expected to account for 70% of all technology spending by 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Cloud computing is entering a phase of standardization and greater compatibility; a sign of maturity in any technology sector. Cloud infrastructure (public, private, hybrid, or Multicloud) is becoming less isolated, allowing workloads to be more portable and data flows more mobile. This standardization is largely due to the movement of&nbsp;<a href=\"file:\/\/datos02\/FundacionInnovacion\/2.-%20FUNDACION\/04.%20FTF\/FTF%20Refresh\/3.%20Cloud%20Computing\/contenido%20Antonio\/FTF%20Refresh%20-%20Cloud%20Computing%20-%20Propuesta%20de%20informe%20v02.docx#_C%C3%B3digo_Abierto\">open code<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The impact of Cloud Computing goes beyond technological development, presenting itself as a disruptive change in business models and digitalization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":10335,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_oaas_summary":"The health and rapid growth of Cloud Computing are evident through the soaring valuations and significant market activities of leading companies.
