The future of work<\/strong> is conditioned by the constant evolution of technologies and the use we make of them, which is constantly modifying professional skills. This is the conclusion of the Future Trends Forum meeting that we held a few months ago, with international experts such as Tammy Erickson<\/strong><\/a>, Alper Utku<\/strong><\/a> and Jason Wingard<\/strong><\/a> , whose conclusions you can read in The Future of Work: A Challenge to the Present<\/em><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

According to Forrester’s latest forecast<\/a> for the future of work, up to 12 million jobs will be lost in Europe’s five largest countries as a whole \u2013 France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK \u2013 by 2040 due to automation. Medium-skilled jobs that consist of simple, routine tasks are the most at risk of being automated. <\/p>\n\n

On the other hand, the so-called soft skills<\/em> or interpersonal competencies, such as active learning<\/strong>, resilience<\/strong>, stress tolerance<\/strong> and flexibility<\/strong> \u2013 something that neither robots nor algorithms will be able to have \u2013 will be highly valued for the new jobs that will arise. And that will require working in collaborative environments between people and machines. <\/p>\n\n

As we pointed out in our report The Future of Work: A Challenge of the Present<\/em><\/a>, in order to have a good professional future, it is necessary to develop and strengthen the differentials of human beings in the face of AI<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

What are the skills that are going to be most in demand?<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n

Professionals are going to need to make a double effort: both in digital and technical skills and in social skills, with the ability to learn new things<\/strong> becoming the most relevant. <\/p>\n\n

In the article What will be the most in-demand skills in the Digital Economy?<\/em><\/a>, we summarize the keys provided by the expert of the Future Trends Forum, Jeff Selingo<\/strong><\/a>. This list has points of agreement with that drawn up by the World Economic Forum<\/a>, where critical thinking<\/strong> and problem-solving<\/strong> top the list of skills that will grow in importance in the next five years. <\/p>\n\n

And how to prepare?<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n

Lifelong learning <\/strong>throughout one’s professional life is going to become the norm. This is what the rector of the European Leadership University, Alper Utku<\/strong>, calls Upskilling<\/em> and Reskilling<\/em><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

Regarding university students, according to this expert, they also face the challenge that the curricula do not adapt to what the market demands. <\/p>\n\n
