Artur Ekert

In his academic life he is a cryptophysicist, i.e. a cryptologist and a physicist. I am a co-inventor of quantum cryptography. My main research interest is information processing in quantum mechanical systems. This is an interdisciplinary field where theoretical and experimental quantum physics, mathematics, logic, computer science and information theory come together, co-inventor of quantum cryptography. His work is mostly theoretical, but his results have a direct bearing on experimental application issues. Outside academia he is addicted to all kinds of water sports and aviation.
