Rafael Mateu de Ros

Rafael Mateu de Ros Cerezo is a Founding Partner of Ramón y Cajal Abogados, he specializes in the areas of Commercial Law, Corporate Governance, National and International Tax Law, Litigation and Arbitration.

A State Attorney, currently on leave of absence, as such he worked for several years in the Ministry of Finance, where he held the positions of Head of the Central Resources Service, Head of the Technical Cabinet of the Undersecretary and Deputy Director General.

Later he oriented his career towards the private sector, being Secretary of the Board of Directors and Head of the Legal Department of various companies, such as Endiasa, Eniepsa and Hispanoil. Subsequently, he was Secretary General and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Bankinter from 1986 to 2009, currently holding the position of Independent Director of Bankinter and Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee of Bankinter.

In addition, he is a Director and Trustee of other companies and Foundations and Legal Advisor to the Board of Directors of Iberdrola.

Titular arbitrator of the Civil and Commercial Court of Arbitration of Madrid (CIMA), of the Court of Arbitration of Madrid (CAM) and member of the Banking and Financial Arbitration Committee of the European Arbitration Association (CByF of the AEADE), he has also intervened as an ad hoc arbitrator in various national and international arbitration proceedings.
