Dr. Flora de Pablo is a Research Professor at the Center for Biological Research (Madrid), of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). He leads the Vertebrate Developmental Growth Factors Group that he created in 1991. She graduated (with Extraordinary Award) and PhD in Medicine from the University of Salamanca and has a Diploma in Psychology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca. He worked for nine years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH, Bethesda, USA) and a gap year at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech, Pasadena, USA). His field of expertise is cellular and molecular developmental biology and his work focuses on gene regulation, receptors and the actions of embryonic insulin. She has received the “Pharmacia/SEEN” awards for endocrinological research, “Serono/SEEN” for basic research work and the “Carmen de Burgos” award for feminist dissemination. She is the founder and president of the Association of Women Researchers and Technologists (AMIT).
