José Carmena

José M. Carmena is a professor of electrical engineering and neuroscience at the University of California-Berkeley, and co-director of the Center for Neural Engineering and Prosthetics at UC Berkeley and UCSF.

Its research program in neural engineering and systems neuroscience is aimed at the neural basis of sensorimotor learning and control, and building the science and engineering foundation that will enable the creation of reliable neuroprosthetic systems for the severely disabled.

Carmena is also the founder of iota Biosciences, dedicated to transforming the way doctors monitor and treat diseases by advancing our understanding of how bioelectronics interacts with the human nervous system.
