Susana Reyes: Engineering the Future of Inertial Confinement Fusion
Susana Reyes (Xcimer Energy) reveals at the Future Trends Forum the key engineering challenges to bring inertial confinement fusion to commercial scale
Chief Technology Officer at Tokamak Energy
After 19 years at Rolls-Royce, where she became the company’s first female Chief Engineer for a major engine programme, Itxaso Ariza was appointed Tokamak Energy’s inaugural Chief Technology Officer in 2024. She now shapes the technology roadmap for the firm’s compact spherical-tokamak and high-temperature-superconducting-magnet ventures, including their commercial spin-out TE Magnetics. A Fellow of the IMechE, Ariza won the Royal Aeronautical Society’s 2019 Sir Ralph Robins Medal for Engineering Leadership and champions cross-sector innovation to realise market-ready fusion power in the 2030s.
