Klaus Hesch is now Strategic Advisor to the Fusion Programme at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) after having been head of the programme from 2011 until the end of 2024. He forges industry partnerships on tritium fuel-cycle technology, high-heat-flux components and engineering for Europe’s DEMO reactor, following a long track record of KIT leadership on Breeding Blanket development. Hesch represents KIT on the EUROfusion General Assembly and has served in Germany’s Federal Ministry of Research. A physical chemist by training (PhD, Heidelberg 1991), he remains an active voice in German fusion policy and innovation networks.
