Maarten is the founder and managing director of Nexthealth, a research and strategy company that helps organizations at the intersection of technology and health create opportunities and navigate challenges.

Maarten has a background in computer science and engineering and has also worked in various hospitals and healthcare organizations. Previously, he co-founded SingularityU Benelux, Rockstart Digital Health Accelerator and started several healthcare and technology communities, including Quantified Self Amsterdam & Europe, Mobile Monday Amsterdam, and the first Health 2.0 event in Europe.

He advises and oversees various boards, including Pluryn, Holland Capital, and SIDNfonds and communities like Health Valley Event and Permanent Beta. As part of his other activities, Maarten enjoys giving presentations on the future of health, moderating events, and writing open source software.
