Shahar Avin is a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER), where he collaborates with researchers to develop strategies for mitigating global catastrophic risks through workshops, agent-based models, and simulations. Previously a software engineer at Google, Shahar holds a PhD in philosophy of science focused on research funding and an undergraduate degree in physics and philosophy. His diverse background includes experience in startups and military service in the IDF.
