John de Zulueta

John de Zulueta is Honorary President of the Círculo de Empresarios.

He has also been a director of Línea Directa Aseguradora since 2015 and Chairman of the Health Advisory Council of Madrid Open City. He is the founding president of the Society of 100 Bibliophiles, a Spanish society of bibliophiles.

He is Managing Partner of Point Lobos, a consulting firm. He was CEO of the Sanitas Group (Bupa Group) from 1991 to 2005 and former president of the same company from 2005 to 2009. In addition, he was president of USP Hospitals from 2010 to 2012. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Bankinter between 2001 and 2015 and a trustee of the Gadea Ciencia and Caser foundations.

He has been a member of the Advisory Board of 3i Europe, the British venture capital group. His business career began as a consultant for The Boston Consulting Group in the San Francisco office.

He has also been a member of the Special Commission for the Study of the Development of the Information Society in Spain (Ministry of Science and Technology). He has also been a member of the jury of the awards for the best projects of the Spanish Autonomous Communities (Ministry of the Autonomous Communities).

He is the author of the books “Buscando El Dorado” 1997 (essays on the company in Spain 1980-1996) and “España Fallida” 2023. He was a fortnightly columnist for more than a decade in the newspapers “El Mundo” and “Expansión” and in the magazine “Capital”.

His career and contribution to society have been recognised by H.M. the King of Spain by awarding him the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit.
