The most promising trends in communications from GSMA CEO John Hoffman

Upcoming #FutureTalks on the future of communications with one of the world’s leading experts, John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA and organizer of Mobile World Congress.
What is the future of communications? What major innovations are likely to occur? What are the trends in mobile telecommunications? Our next #FutureTalks will try to answer these questions from one of the world’s leading experts on the subject: John Hoffman.
John is the CEO of GSMA ltd. and is responsible within the GSMA for, among other things, the organization of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the association’s publications and the industry research service.
Previously, he served as CEO of fastmobile, Inc, a provider of software-based network operator solutions, and was president and CEO of Roamware, Inc, a global provider of voice and data roaming solutions.
In addition, John has held executive positions with several mobile telecommunications companies, including BellSouth, Pocket Communications and SONOFON, and has been an independent consultant to the mobile industry, leading projects with GSMA, BellSouth, Palm and PCSOne, among others.
We will review with John the most interesting trends seen at the recent Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 in Barcelona, such as the definitive deployment of 5G and the future 6G, or the so-called green tech, that is, technologies applied to sustainability. John will also tell us how he sees the future of telecommunications and in which areas of our lives it will have the greatest impact.
John will also talk about the GSMA’s commitment to innovation and talent in Spain. John recently told europapress that the GSMA is committed to creating an economic ecosystem in Barcelona that lasts all year round: he has proposed setting up a consortium to research cell phone batteries, and added that there are “other possibilities” such as nanomaterials, as the city has “great universities and research centers“.
