Alfonso Jaramillo

As Lead of the De Novo Synthetic Biology lab at I2SysBio (CSIC), he integrates theoretical physics and computational biology to engineer living systems. His research pioneers Living Artificial Intelligence and accelerated evolutionary engineering for therapeutics. Formerly a Chair at the University of Warwick and researcher at Harvard under Nobel Laureate Martin Karplus, he has coordinated multiple EU consortia and founded the journal BioDesign Research. He is also a key advisor to the OECD on biotechnology.
