José García Montalvo is Professor of Economics at Pompeu Fabra University, as well as a research professor at Barcelona GSE, at the Valencian Institute for Economic Research (IVIE) and at the Catalan Institution for Advanced Studies (ICREA). He received a degree in Economics from the University of Valencia and a doctorate in Economics from Harvard University. García Montalvo is recognized as one of the most relevant researchers in Spain in the field of economics.
He has worked as a consultant for companies and international organizations such as the OECD, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the European Union, among others. He is vice-rector for Scientific Strategy, as well as a member of the Council of Social Sciences of the Ramón Areces Foundation.
Montalvo is the author of several books and more than 100 publications in different newspapers such as American Economic Review, Journal of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, the Economic Journal, European Economic Review, Journal of Development Economics, Economics Letters, Applied Psychology , Journal of Economic Growth, International Journal of Industrial Organization, European Journal of Education and thel International Journal of Transport Economics, among others.
